Thank you for your request dated 25 August 2015 under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).
Your request
You asked for information about a 'dry ingredient' which contaminated 'gluten free' foods produced by Genius earlier this year. You asked what the 'dry ingredient' was which contained gluten and which was added to gluten free products made by Genius, and what Genius have done to prevent such an incident ever happening again.
Response to your request
The answer to the first part of your question is non-gluten free baking powder.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Food Standards Scotland does not have some of the information you have requested. However, you may wish to contact West Lothian Council at environmentalhealth@westlothian.gov.uk , who may be able to help you. The reasons why we don’t have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter. ....
