Description: "Excellent Fish Restaurant with Coeliac dishes listed"
The restaurant is very busy so there is often a queue (I don't know if it is possible to book). Also they like to pack people in and have quite a few large tables so if there are only a couple of you, you may have to share with others.

Someone posted a message a while back on this board about the Magpie Cafe at Whitby providing gf meals. My sister and her daughter, who is 11 and has DH, were going to Whitby last week on holiday so I told them about the cafe. You do have to book in advance if you want gf fish and chips. On the day they then clean out and use a fryer for the purpose. The fish was delicious apparently. The Cafe does do other gf meals such as fish pie which are always on the menu (no need to book)and also has lots of gf puddings. My niece had sticky toffee pudding! There is always a queue at the Magpie but they said it was well worth the wait!

Went to the Quayside restaurant at Whitby yesterday.Had my first fish and chips meal since I was diagnosed 4 years ago. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop. They actually state gluten free available on the menu. The fish was absolutely gorgeous no skin so you could eat the lot. Chips were pretty average. I was thrilled just to be eating something normal. Apparently according to the local news channel they are shortlisted for an award for the best fish and chips in the north east. I think we will be giving Whitby a few more visits.

We went to the Quayside Fish Shop in Whitby at the weekend while I was on a trip to my parents and I have to say I was well impressed with their restauant!
The fish was very juicy and infact was larger than my partners 'normal' fish and chips!
I would definately recommend it to anyone going to whitby as it was THE BEST ive had gluten free!

We went there more than once last week and they were great. GF fish & chips made to order for take away is fab and so 'normal' - none of this first Saturday of the month from 3-4pm book 24 hours in advance nonsense that we have here. The Magpie restaurant was also very good booked in advance but they dont do GF takewaway.

Hubby and I went there on Thursday. We went into the restaurant. No waiting (we arrived at 1pm) and thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips. Hubby had GF too as he did not want the waitress to get the plates mixed up and he said they were delicious. This is our second visit and would definitely go back again

Many thanks for letting me know about Quayside. We went there but there was such a queue which was good as it showed it was popular so we went to Bar 7 next door (same people)and was able to go straight in as we didn't have any children with us. Yummy fish and chips which was served very fast as it wasn't too busy. The Magpie was even busier.

A Lazy Easter
….
The Magpie Cafe in Whitby does Gluten Free food but their Vegetarian option I ordered was out so I had to have a pasta - I chose Vege Lasagna.
