It's Not Just In Your Head: The Psychological Impacts of Celiac Disease Posted by Paul on 2/1/2014 GF board I found this really useful, informative and reassuring PDF from NFCA which simplifies and summarises some of the psychological aspects of having Coeliac disease. www.dropbox.com/s/h0yqvekvbbqrs9b/PsychImpactWebinarFinal.pdf It might be a useful bit of backup info to help non-Coeliacs understand that the challenges we face are not an excuse for us to just complain, not be positive or 'opt out of living', but that there are genuinely physical and psychological effects that can make it challenging to manage emotions (especially in the early stages of diagnosis). As we are all aware, the challenges of living with this condition stretch far beyond just "watching out for gluten" and to most people they kind of think "look, just get on with it". It changes your whole life and it can take a while to come to terms with it and be happy. The reality of how a non-functioning body can affect moods and emotions is difficult to get across to people without sounding like you are just not trying hard enough, when in actual fact, it's very real, but difficult to articulate. Maybe this will help? I guess it's really a way to help describe some of the possible mood related issues, to then go on to help solve or improve them if they have become habitual.
