GF fish and chips Leeds
Posted by Nicola GF board
Went to Leeds at the weekend, and thought I'd check out the fish and chip shop that was featured in (I think) the summer issue of Crossed Grain, from 2001.
It was the first time my daughter had tried fish and chips, and it was first class. They had battered fish, mushrooms, and onion rings on the menu - nothing was too much bother. Also had GF ice cream, and one other hot dessert to choose from. The batter on the fish was better than what I had - lots more light and tasted lovely. I think the shop relies on donations of flour from the local coeliacs, so we'll be sure to send a pack up.
Restaurant (not large but they have catered for a coach party from Manchester which all wanted GF food) was child friendly - kids cutlery (which we had forgotten, so bonus!!),and highchairs. Baby changing facilities in the ladies loo.
The place:
Westfield Fisheries
5 New Road
Yeadon
Leeds
LS19 7NF
Tel: (0113 250 3934)
Totally recommend the place - only wish we lived nearer. Other chippies take note - it can be done!!!!!

…..Fish & chip shop & restaurant called 'Wesfield Fisheries' in Yeadon,Leeds. They sell GF fish & chips, and have a totally separate fryer and use separate utensils. Absolutely gorgeous, GF puddings too, if you can manage it
….Also Murgatroyds fisheries nr Leeds & Brd Airport sell them too, but I much prefer Westfield's.
Also Salvo's Italian in Headingly, Leeds, have GF options on their Menu, and there is at least one GF dessert too……

There is a restaurant,... called the Millrace on Kirkstall road in Leeds. Its primarily an organic restaurant, but caters for people on a gf diet. I have never eaten there, but have heard good reports on the place.

…Salvo's in Headingley it is very good, they do quite a few GF choices, and even have a GF cake.
Also La Tasca, and Wardrobe restuarant in the City centre have GF choices on the menu. There should be quite a few places noted on the support board, and also on the GF MAP of places to eat in Leeds and the surrounding areas.

..Salvo's in Headingley is a really nice Italian restaurant that caterers well for GF diets. It is a very popular restaurant so you would probably have to book first.

Just perusing the local mag, and noticed that Cafe Marinetti on Horsforth Town Street do GF pizza and pasta. I have eaten the gluten filled food and its delicious. Not sure how they are wih cross contamination etc but thought I would let any of you in the locality know. Please post if you try it, as to how you found it. Special offer of any pasta dish for £5 and I think its the same for the pizza too

I have eaten there several times and can't recomend it highly enough. They are very clued up on a gf diet. I had the pasta once when they had run out of gf flour and the next time I went I had my first eating out pizza in 3 years.
Give it a try it's well worth a visit. …

With all the rain we have had I was beginning to get cabin fever, so what a nice surprise to find a cafe which makes GF pizzas and only 15 mins from home. So off we went and I had the first decent pizza in years. Next time I will have a pasta dish. I have added Cafe Marinetti to my list of places I can eat in….
