I mentioned a few weeks ago Cremaria which is between the Minster and Bootham bar. They have lovely GF cakes and wonderful ice-cream. ....

I've been to the one in Harlow Carr near Harrogate where the potato rosti was Gluten Free I'm assuming they would offer it in the other branches as well.I had no ill effects after it. ...

How about this then?
'El Piano' - Award winning, fabulous food and friendly service.
No animal products, no gluten containing ingredients
All dietary requirements catered for.
Haven't got a clue where it is but look at the website. My son ate there when visiting a friend at the uni, and said it was fantastic...

El Piano is in Grape Lane (off Petergate) and close to the Minster.
It is an unusual sort of place but the food is good.

Depends what you like for lunch, but i would recommend Kafeneion on goodramgate (very near the Minster) they do sandwiches, paninis and afternoon tea type things. Bar Convent near the railway station usually does a good selection of meals but beware they use Codex in their food if you are sensitive to that. The National Trust cafe in the Treasurers House usually has something Gf, Dean Court Hotel can usually do something but is a bit pricey,Ask italian is in the Assembly Rooms a lovely building, La Cremeria can do afternoon tea type things all of these are near the Minster. There is also Pizza Express near Lendal Bridge and Nandos not far from M&S clothes shop. Hope you have a lovely day.

GF board
Just had a very pleasant overnight stay at Blackwood Hall York. When booking I mentioned that I would like a gf breakfast if possible. I could not have expected the choice - Nairns Oatcakes and biscuits were made available along with other Eat Natural bars too. GF cornflakes and muesli were available along with various yoghurts and the full yorkshire breakfast had heaps of bacon along with beans, tomatoes and two poached eggs as well as two types of toast. I didn't eat again until the evening. As the Hall itself is stunning too I can thoroughly recommend it to visitors not wanting to stay too close to the city

gf sandwiches in York - Nought E Food Company Posted by Bobby S on 14/10/2013, GF board Nought E Food Company in Blake Street www.noughtefood.co.uk/ I have been in here a couple of times recently. They reheat the gf rolls in the microwave, and you can choose your own filling. They are pretty flexible, so you don't have to have one of the combinations listed on the menu. Today there were two of us waiting for gf!. Jocelyn (D&D) on 15/10/2013 You have to go to The Cremarie. Fab ice-cream and such excellent service. It's right near the Cathedral.

Rowntree Park Reading Cafe, York - gf cakes Posted by Bobby S on 14/11/2013 GF board I went into the cafe in Rowntree Park, York for a cup of tea earlier today, not intending to have anything to eat, but spotted a selection of Honeybuns gf cakes and couldn't resist the temptation! Bit expensive at £2.25 but nice to have the option. The cafe is run by York Council who also have cafes in the central York and Acomb libraries, I don't know whether or not they have any gf options. www.york.gov.uk/info/200181/libraries_and_archives/828/caf%C3%A9s

Re eating out in York Posted by Jules on 27/11/2013, 23:45:47 Absolutely loads of places all over York offering GF food to eat in & take away. It is Coeliac's heaven there!! Our favourite was El Piano. EVERTHING on the menu is gluten free. It is vegetarian & vegan too - wasn't too sure what it would be like but we had the most amazingly wholesome & beautifully flavoured lunch. Also GF cup cakes at Crumbs Cupcakery (not far from York Minster) We also had GF fish & chips in Selby (only on a Tuesday night though) www.el-piano.com/ www.crumbscupcakery.co.uk/ www.mistercs.co.uk/ ************************ Posted by Jocelyn (D&D) on 27/11/2013 Coffee and cake - definitely La Cremarie - recommended on here by someone when I went. Lovely people and fab ice cream! ****************************

New gluten free cafe/takeaway in York Posted by EP on 29/3/2014 In my search to track down Voakes g/free pies I found a stockist in York called Sidney and Ramona, Bishopthorpe Road, York. I called in today to collect my pre ordered pies and discovered nearly everything they sell is gluten free. They have a very small seating area so I had beef chilli and rice which was delicious. They make soup, chilli and can make gluten free sandwiches. I bought Voakes pork pies, chicken, pork and stuffing pies, carrot and orange muffin and a piece of millionaires shortbread. They had lemon drizzle, pear muffins, orange cakes, brownies and more. The owner is a coeliac, very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back next time I am in York. What a find! The coffee was very good too. ****************** Posted by Bobby S on 29/3/2014 Sounds good - might have to take a walk down there sometime soon! I found their website www.stanleyandramona.co.uk/ Stanley and Ramona 30a Bishopthorpe Road, York, YO23 1JJ 01904 659166

Just got back from an very enjoyable few days in York, a really nice city, so much to do there. Seemed to be loads of cafes, tea rooms etc advertising GF food, too many to sample all of them. We stopped at a Premier Inn on the outskirts near to a park & ride, so easy and at £2.80 each return including car parking it's got to be cheaper than travelling in and parking. Premier Inn are really good now with GF meals, plenty of things on the evening menu I could have. Breakfast also excellent as long as you want a cooked one which is ok except sausages and hash brown. Continental not so good though although they do GF toast for you, (in the kitchen not the self serve toaster.) Best value for money was the National Rail museum, even if you are not a train buff the exhibits are superb and the whole facility is really well done, and free! although they do suggest a donation of £3.00, they were happy with us buying a brochure which is excellent. The Minster is magnificent, not so the Jorvic experience, quite well done but worth about a fiver rather than £10 each, you will be in and out in less than an hour and that's stringing it out. Molly’s Tea Rooms, York www.theantiquescentreyork.co.uk/more-about-us/mollys-tea-rooms41 Stonegate [above The Antiques Centre], York. YO1 8AW Tel: 01904 635888 Two separate GF friends recommended Molly's Tearooms in York, so I just had to try them out. Very impressed! Almost the entire menu is available GF and they really seem to know what they are doing. I had a toastie and a piece of cheesecake and was very pleased. I was given a 10% off voucher for future visits. Their ice creams are gluten free and they do knickerbocker glories!!! I hope I can return very soon.
