From Tina (edited by Lyn G) We visited the Ali Raj restaurant - they provide gluten-free onion bhajis, curry and rice, but unfortunately they treated me like I was some kind of freak ! Ali Raj , 7 Cheltenham Crescent, Harrogate telephone 01423 521627 I was impressed with the restaurant at Harlow Carr Gardens, the Garden Room Restaurant - I had roast pork with bubble and squeak potato bake with a tomato sauce (to replace the gravy) and loads of veg - it was really yummy! (When I asked the waitress if she could find out which meals were gluten-free, she was very helpful and uncondescending.) All the icecreams are gluten free too, so I had a raspberry meringue one, which was also yummy, but they let themselves down by putting a wafer in it - but the waitress I was served by didn't serve the icecream at the icecream counter, so I suggest that you make it clear that you don't want a wafer with your icecream if you visit them. www.information-britain.co.uk/sh ... ace_ID=709

Recently stayed at the Grants Hotel in Harrogate, the staff were wonderful re my dietary requests. Had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay, any time staff were unsure re foods they always checked which was reassuring. Also has lunches at the Conference Centre as part of booked meeting I was attending there, although mainly salad no protien or carbohydate, the staff were very good and the presentation was excellent.

Bistrot Pierre, Harrogate - Posted by Audrey on 30/7/2012, 23:15:16 Bistrot Pierre, 15 Cheltenham Parade, Harrogate. HG1 1DQ Tel: 01423-533070 Website: www.lebistrotpierre.co.uk/locations/harrogate We had a lovely meal at Bistrot Pierre on a recent visit to Harrogate - crab salad, navarin of lamb and Eton Mess - all wonderful, accompanied by equally wonderful wines. This was on one of the twice-monthly “Dine with Wine” evenings. [Two courses £22.50, three courses £27.50. The price includes a glass of wine to accompany each course.] Otherwise there are normal a la carte and early-bird menus. Most of the items on the menu are available gluten free. GF bread available (although, annoyingly, at an extra charge of 95p) – otherwise this restaurant chain is very coeliac friendly.

GF in Harrogate Posted by Yet another Carole on 16/3/2013 GF board
Found Voaks pie stall at the farmers market. Had a very nice pork pie which I ate cold on a chilly bench and an equally delicous steak pie I have just had hot from the oven.
Also went to Damn Yankee which is down the road from the bus station. They have a gluten free menu with quite a few starters, salads, chilli and nachos. Steak and chicken choices along with various sauces. sadly the burgers and fries not gf. Also choice of desserts including a most wonderful choc brownies with ice cream to die for. Not cheap, £34 for 2 mains, desserts and drinks but you could have a starter and pud. They are open lunch and evenings. Its such a great place to eat out with choices of La Tasca, Zizzi and Prezzo along with other chains and independants.

Harrogate pub introduces gluten-free menu by Neil Gerrard, Tuesday 19th February 2013 13:16 The Shoulder of Mutton in Kirkby Overblow near Harrogate, has launched an entirely gluten-free menu for its coeliac guests. The menu offers a range of gluten-free starters, mains and desserts including everything from Yorkshire puddings and gravy to gluten-free biscuits for cheese. “People shouldn’t have to compromise any part of the meal because they have the disease,” said owner and coeliac sufferer Kate Deacon. “Our gluten-free food has proved so popular, and even people who don’t suffer from the disease can’t tell the difference!” - See more at: www.catererandhotelkeeper.co.uk/Articles/19/2/2013/347496/harrogate-pub-introduces-gluten-free-menu.htm#sthash.hNCvH250.dpuf

....we ate at Norse in Harrogate - brilliant brilliant! There were far more gluten free dishes on the menu than gluten full. The web-site said phone ahead, I did and was slightly concerned that they were very laid back about gluten free over the phone ("Yes, no worries everything is clearly labelled on the menu"). But when we got there they had made a note next to our booking and I got the most wonderful gluten free bread plus a full description of everything I could eat and what they could adapt. We had a lovely three course meal with lots of extras thrown in, with everything they explained the ingredients and reassured me it was gluten free.I can't wait to go back! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
