In August 2012 the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group went against advice from experts including Coeliac UK and removed all the basic food staples except bread and flour from prescriptions. They have also lowered the amount of units each Coeliac is allowed, although they did not publicise this leaving it as a nasty surprise when you tried to place an order.
We are campaigning in Oxford to have our views and opinions heard as a collective in time for the review of these changes in June 2013. Please join us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CoeliacPrescriptionsInOxford) or via Twitter oxfordcoeliacs to help collate experiences and opinions.
Please join us even if you are not from Oxford, we need as much support as possible, especially when you consider that if these changes are allowed to go unchallenged, other PCT’s will adopt these changes across the UK in order to save money.
