GF vegetarian-UK, Lanzarote & more Posted on December 28, 2011 by Marta The Guildhall Tavern in the centre of the old town part of Poole near the quay is a well recommended restaurant serving French food and specialising in seafood/fish. However dishes that can be made gluten free, of which there are many, are clearly marked on the menu. They even have a vegetarian section on their menu which is most unFrench and if you are a meat eater don’t worry as they have more choices than fish and vegetarian. We had a lovely meal there with enormous starters, lots of salad too and they even did gluten free bread for us to go with their delicious home marinated olives. The service is charming and helpful. We plan to bring the parents here again when they have a French themed evening. Give them notice and they can do more gluten free options by arrangement like pancakes and lobster thermidor. Lakeside fish and chips Poole -reporting back Posted by Pam, Dorset on 22/3/2014 GF board As requested I'm reporting back on this place after someone posted a little while ago. My husband and I went yesterday lunch time and it was absolutely packed. You can book and I would advise it , unless you are happy to queue for a table. It is more like a smart restaurant than a chippie and has a varied menu as well as the fish and chips. However the lunch time deal of £7.95 for fish and chips with mushy peas and salad garnish, bread roll for non coeliacs, and tea or coffee was good value. The food was lovely , gluten free batter no extra charge. It isn't mentioned on the menu or signage in the takeaway, though it is on their web site. I told them they needed to advertise the gf and was told the menus were being redone. So , the verdict - a good place to go for a treat, with harbour views and proper restaurant service. The take away would be the cheaper option and in summer I would be tempted to use that and find somewhere nice to eat outside. www.lakeside-fishandchips.com/
