Posted by Tammy on GF board Sometimes it can really put you off going out for dinner, my husband is great and can be more persistent about it then me at times. We cook so much at home that eating out does make a nice change, but is very rare. However, some places are trying to educate themselves. There is a tea shop in a craft centre called Oad Street, its in a little village in Sittingbourne, Kent. They surprised us on how well informed they were on gluten free food (sounds like their chef is very keen) and used the word coeliac before I did. Their menu advertised gluten free cakes and even though us coeliacs can get bored of jacket spuds, theirs are really yummy and so filling. They use proper freshly grated cheese and gluten free labelled beans (they showed me the tin). We advised them on gluten free gravies because they are looking into doing sunday dinners for lunch. They said the more they know the better they can cater for people like us. Thats is good to hear Oad Street Tea Room 6.8 miles from Queenborough (Kent) 01795844182 Oad Street Craft Centre, Oad Street, Borden, Sittingbourne, Kent, ****************** From Tom The link below shows the location - use the "Zoom-in" facility {+ sign} to see a larger scale map. www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dl ... w=Y&zoom=3

Went for lunch at Marino Fish Bar, Sittingbourne yesterday. I had GF battered Cod and chips. The batter was crisp and delicious. They also do take away but you need to phone the order in to give them time to fire up the GF fryer.
