Avignon Posted by Audrey on 27/1/2012 GF board ... We found a nice place in Avignon called Zeste which doesn't seem to have made it on to the list - this is my review from June 2010 Located in a pretty square in the heart of Avignon with inside and outside seating, Zeste offers a wide range of food all made with fresh seasonal ingredients, organic where possible, as well as beer, coffee and a large selection of teas (but not English Breakfast tea!). Take away is available and there is a good choice of vegetarian items on the menu. This restaurant was suggested by the tourist office when I asked where I might be able to find gluten-free food. The guy in charge spoke excellent English and was very helpful. My two companions who can eat anything had a great choice of home-made soups, hot dishes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, juices, desserts and smoothies, and I was able to make a good meal from various salads and a chick pea dish, followed by a divine rice pudding made with flaked almonds and spice. The pudding was so good I took an extra one to eat next day on the TGV to Nice. Open 7 days a week from 07.30 for breakfast to evening (closing time can depend on how busy they are). A more recent reviewer (April 2011) said "highly recommended" and also mentioned "the healthy (inc. gluten free) breakfast and lunch". www.soyonszeste.fr/images/carte.pdf
