Found a couple of real gems in Ferrara (within an hour or so by train from Bologna, Venice...) La Farina di Riso www.farinadiriso.com/ Small bakery where they make the most amazing bread, croissants, grissini, cakes, pizzette, and fresh pasta to die for. All their products are gluten free. A few minutes walk from the duomo. La Rocchetta www.larocchetta.com/ Agriturismo where my friends had their wedding. Registered as gluten free by the Italian coeliac society. Owned by the parents of the owner of La farina di riso... I had amazing GF pasta (tortellini di zucca and trofie with pesto). Gelateria Grom www.grom.it/ita/index.php Amazing ice cream - known in Ferrara as the coeliac safe place. They have branches throughout Italy (and even in Japan and the States) Il Mandolino www.ristoranteilmandolino.it/ Lovely restaurant in the backstreets. They have La Veneziana GF pasta and most sauces etc are gf. Went to considerable effort (with no warning) to make sure everything was ok, with GF bread and a beautiful pannacotta. Website for Italian coeliac society www.celiachiaitalia.com/
