Blue Peter GF scones You Will Need: 250g of gluten-free flour 25g of extra flour for rolling out 4 teaspoons of baking powder 40g of butter 175ml of milk 50g of grated cheese 50g of ham First, check that all work surfaces, utensils and your hands have been well cleaned, to ensure there's not even a trace of gluten from previous cooking. When you're ready to start, add 4 level teaspoons of gluten-free baking powder to 250g of gluten-free flour and sift into a mixing bowl. Quickly rub in 40 grams of butter until it looks like fine breadcrumbs. Then, gently stir in 50 grams of grated cheese and 50 grams of chopped ham. Make a well in the middle of the mixture and add 175mls of milk gradually as you stir, to make a soft dough. In one hand bring the dough together, then roll out to 2cms thickness on a surface sprinkled with gluten-free flour. Cut out the scones with scone cutters and place on a greased baking tray. Brush a little milk over the scones, so they’ll turn a golden colour when cooking. Put into a pre-heated oven, at Gas Mark 7 or 220 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Leave to cool and eat on the same day. www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/bluepeter/active/bakes/bake_glutenfreescones.shtml#
