Helsinki

Helsinki is the most GF-friendly city in the world. Every restaurant has gluten free options and nearly all of them have gluten free bread available. Cafes always have gluten free cakes. Waiters will always understand what you are talking about when you ask for gluten free food. Air Berlin and Blue 1 fly there from Stansted.

Finland and Estonia From MAC on GF board All Finnish restaurants have gluten free food, and you can get gluten free pizza at a lot of pizza restaurants too. For example Rosso in Helsinki, (address: Keskuskatu 6) - see the menu here: rosso.fi/menu_eng.htm - all the "originale pizzas" can be prepared gluten free. Fransmanni (2 restaurants: Mannerheimintie 50 (in the Radisson SAS hotel) and Kluuvikatu 8 (in the Sokos hotel)) is part of the same chain. Many dishes can be prepared gluten free. Menu: www.fransmanni.fi/menu_eng.htm. This is more upmarket than Rosso. Helsinki is a modern city and is great to stroll round. The market area (kauppatori) and old market hall are interesting (right next to where you get off the ship). There is a good restaurant on the west of the harbour called Sundmans Krog (address: Eteläranta 16) Perhaps the peninsula called "katajanokka" to the east of the harbour is interesting too. In Tallin the main attraction is the central square and the small streets that lead off it. There are always places to eat and drink with outside tables, accompanied by drunken Finns (Estonia has very cheap alcohol compared to finland). You don't get the same level of gluten free service in Estonia, but if you can find a finnish restaurant there you will be in luck. BTW, always ask for a menu in English as most restaurants have them....
