Cuba
Re: Cuba - Help! Posted by meagan on 19/9/2007 GF board
…. I went to Cuba for two weeks in April this year and did not have problems eating gluten free. Be prepared for some very bland tasting food though – particularly in hotels and government owned restaurants. The staples for dinner are chicken or pork with beans and rice. We preferred to eat in private homes called Paladars where the food was tasty and always fresh. Breakfast generally consists of fresh fruit and eggs. There were a few more issues with lunches – particularly if you are out and about. I ate a lot of pitta bread that i’d brought myself. Take a Spanish translation card and you should be able to ensure your food is safe to eat. ….. …..Cuba is an amazing place!
