Hoorn
We stayed with our son in Hoorn, which is about 1/2 hour drive north of Amsterdam. We drove and so I took a box full of food - tins, packets, rice milk and pre baked bread and cookies (which I transferred to his freezer on arrival). Then it was easy to buy fresh meat, fruit and veg and cater for myself using their kitchen. I did think that had we stayed in a hotel it might have been very difficult - mainly due to my additional food intolerances! We went out most days - often for hours! But I managed by having a good breakfast and packing food/water in a mini cool bag. Cafes/bars etc. had no problem with me eating my own food. The people I met (our son's girlfriends family) went out of their way to accomodate my needs - even inviting us to a BarBQ and cooking my meat separately using separate tongs and everything!! So yes, a great time, and it's boosted my confidence no end'.
