Here is my report on India as promised…….

Virgin Airways – Outbound to Delhi
1st or Main Meal – Grilled chicken with vegetables & rice. Dates and orange segments when hubby (not CD) got a chocolate GF GU!!!
Breakfast – small bowl of fruit with a BREAD ROLL!! When I explained that I needed to follow a GF diet I was offered a turkey sandwich! I eventually got a bowl of nuts as I kicked up a little bit of a fuss. I will be writing to Sir Richard to complain about the total incompetence and rudeness of that particular member of staff.
In General - Breakfasts were mainly buffet. I started off with bacon & eggs, with mushrooms & tomatoes. Once I got acclimatised to the weather and the local food (took me about 5 days, I had a vegetable curry with dosai which is a large flat pancake made from rice flour. At the Ramada Caravella they also served Masala dosai which is the pancake with a potato curry filling and lentils or Dahl on the side. I also had Utta Pam which is the rice flour mixture but this time cooked as a smaller saucer sized pancake with vegetables and coriander on top. There was always a good range of fresh fruit to choose from too at all the hotels.
Crowne Plaza Hotel – New Delhi www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/NDESU/at-a-glance
Restaurant staff read the GF card in Hindi & took it to their Chef. Told me to place my order and then told me that my choice would be ok as it did not have any non GF ingredients. I had Lamb & Spinach curry with basmati rice and popadoms. Yummy.
Whilst Travelling – Delhi – The Essex Restaurant
I showed the waiter the Hindi GF card. He called the Chef, who came out and asked me to choose my meal. I opted for Fish Curry & Rice, which he said would not be a problem. A lovely meal served with popadoms and chutneys (Indian style stuff – no mango chutney or mint sauce!!)
