Re: Holidays in Hawaii Posted by Fiona on 13/1/2008 Going gluten free in Hawaii is no problem ,I lived there for 3yrs and loved it ,good idea to go self catering there are some great cheap self catering apartments in a place called Aeia which is near the pearl harbor monument ,you would need a car ,but the apartment is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in the area and away from Waikiki beach also has a pool but I can't recall the name at the moment but really nice ,there are so many fantastic places to discover off the beaten track and cheaper as well than the main areas . It is along way to fly ,lots of snacks in bags and make sure you can order a gluten free meal on the plane ,not always easy I know!! ..... *********************** Hawaii Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide Celiac Handbook has compiled a list of restaurants in Hawaii that have made a commitment to understanding the requirements of a gluten-free diet or has been patronized by a person with celiac disease who had a positive experience. www.celiachandbook.com/hawaii.html *************************

I am from the LA area and I know where to go eat. Luckily my wife is a good cook so I prefer to eat home cooking due to my problem with gluten. We have been to Hawaii many times and love there. The problem arised when we stayed at those Honolulu Hotels and ended up eating there. So thank you so much for the info.
