Golf in Spain GF John and Rose O’Connor We had a wonderful time on the Costa Brava holiday. The hotel was lovely; The restaurant at Roberts was wonderful. I am coeliac and therefore need a gluten free diet and they could not have been more helpful. The golf courses were wonderful; a bit daunting for old hackers, but the atmosphere and fun amongst the players was excellent. We shall definitely be going again. Many thanks to UKSG. www.ukschoolofgolf.com/testimonials.htm

reporting back from costa brava!! Posted by frauke on 29/6/2004 GF board Just got back last night from our holiday to Tamariu and firstly want to say a great big THANK YOU to Charlotte for suggesting this area! One of the best holidays so far - absolutely stunning scenery and beaches, plenty to see and do (although we were lazy and just drove up & down the coast) and I can recommend www.tamariu-rentals.com for booking apartments/villas - our apartment was excellent, and well equipped to do our own cooking - we had some amazing feasts in the evenings. Supermarkets in nearby Palafrugell were full of fresh produce and gorgeous paella rice which we had nearly every night in different forms. I had the catalonian food list with me (a book about the same size as our CUK "bible") which they (http://www.celiacscatalunya.org/castella/frame.htm)sent me promptly on my request - I think they charged about €15 for it.. Thanks for all the tips and advice, translations etc... unfortunatly I printed all these things off in work and left them there and then promptly became ill and was off sick, probably due to tons of food intolerances which I think I now have, so in the end I didn't eat out at all... but good news that it's easy to get good produce there. I did however take my own bread, rice cakes & corn cakes, biscuits, jam, seasoning, flour etc, so definately needed the letter from my doctor about excess luggage. Ryanair in Prestwick were great - there was no quibble, and they said they'd put a note on the system for our return journey incase I had food to take back. The return journey was a different matter - we did have food to take back as I had packed too much, and was still over the limit, and the attitude of the check in girls in Girona was appalling - they looked at my letter in disgust and tutted, and said next time I should take less clothes!! The note from Prestwick couldn't be found as they weren't using computers! They then sent me to another desk to queue for payment of the excess weight, and gave me an address in dublin to complain, which I will do. So apart from being £40 down on excess baggage we had an absolutely wonderful time, and are looking forward to our next visit - hopefully next year!
