John Lewis Posted by Jo (Leics) on 5/5/2005
My daughter and I went to John Lewis in Nottingham on Sunday. We popped into their coffee shop in the afternoon and I could hardly believe my eyes - there were five different types of GF cakes and biscuits! My problem then was which one to choose.

Also John Lewis, West Quay, Southampton, Hants have GF cakes.

GF board
Re: Cribbs Causeway Branch, Bristol. I popped into their restaurant today to see what GF delights were available. I have to say that I was most impressed! On the cake section, there was a choice of three different cakes. (I didn't like the idea of non-GF scones sitting right next to them though). I then went to the hot food section and asked what was GF. The lady pulled out a folder, and there were quite a few items there. She advised that their leek and potato soup and cream of mushroom soup were both GF, but not ministrone as it has spaghetti in. She stated their roast spuds are not GF but the boiled ones were. She was quite clued up on the GF diet and very helpful. Obviously, it would seem branches vary.

Milton Keynes Re: eating out..a must for cakes john lewis Posted by Joanne on 22/10/2006 GF board Went to MK John Lewis today, had three types of gf cake - a chocolate & honey torte, a wrapped fruit and choc slice and almond macaroons which 3 year old daughter described as scrumptious! They will also make gluten free rolls up on request (they supply the roll) my daughter had a gf ham one and another lady in the queue had a prawn salad. ...they had the gluten free rolls advertised on the chalk board next to the sandwich counter as 'a selection of gluten free products are available'. John Lewis is in 'the centre MK' at the Middleton Hall end. The cafe is on the first floor, accessed from an external front staircase. For info, Starbucks in 'the centre MK' also does a rice bread sandwich with vintage cheddar and pesto. www.thecentremk.com

ed by Karen (Essex) on 28/7/2005 At Bluewater John Lewis the GF cakes are individually wrapped and although on display are behind a plastic shield and have to be asked for. They are usually near where you pay for hot drinks and are not near the regular serve yourself cakes.
I don't know if other John Lewis' differ or not.

From Lyn G
Southampton John Lewis (West Quay) have their GF cakes at back of counter (away from the other cakes) with their own knives etc. You have to ask for these GF cakes.

From Ayesha
Was in John Lewis Oxford street today, they had one GF cake, it wasn't individually wrapped. You had to ask which was GF. The person knew exactly which one was, took a new knife washed it and then served me the cake...so far so good. Am a bit worried that they didn't have any individually wrapped cakes...
