Pitcher & Piano pub chain Posted by Caroline on 20/10/2004, GF board Not sure if this has been brought up before but I just wanted to bring your attention to this discovery. I went out for lunch with friends and went to the Pitcher and Piano bar in Reading and when scanning the menu for anything I could possibly eat I stumbled across sandwiches made on gluten free bread!! They offer various fillings as a kind of 'build your own' sandwich where you choose which kind of bread you want and GF was actually listed. The bread was so nice that I actually wasn't convinced it was gluten free.....i still can't believe it, but its on the menu's in black and white. Not sure how great this menu would be for very sensitive coeliacs as not sure on how it is prepared or what it could be baked with, but I do definitely recommend it. ********************************** www.pitcherandpiano.com/pdf/10_0 ... 5%20P&P(LL).pdf -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Re: Pitcher & Piano pub chain Posted by Karen (Ess ex) on 21/10/2004 GF board The "GF" bread looks to be Rye bread. Rye is wheat free but not unfortunately gluten free

Restaurant in Reading Posted by Diane on 3/12/2006 GF board
My daughter went on her Christmas Meal with her work last night and forewarned the restaurant (Riverside in Caversham) that she needed a GF menu. She said they bought her the soup without croutons and had bought in GF bread, she had ordered salmon and they hanged the dish slightly to make it GF and for desert they made her meringue (her favourite) with lemon ice cream and fresh fruit. All her colleagues were jealous and saying next time they will ask for GF! This is the first time since diagnosis in April that she has managed to eat out without feeling a freak - she was so happy when she came home. She is 18 next April and I am already thinking of booking a family meal there as they seem so helpful and more importantly clued up! WELL DONE RIVERSIDE
**********
The Riverside Restaurant is an excellent fine dining restaurant located on the Thames by Caversham Bridge. The restaurant has spectacular river views and serves delicious modern British food.

fish and chip shop Reading Posted by Diane (berkshire) on 30/10/2007 Gf board
Had my first fish and chips yesterday since being diagnosed 18 months ago it was fantastic. Would really recommend the DEEP BLUE FISH AND CHIP SHOP Basingstoke Road Reading tel 01189873255. They do gluten free on Mondays between 11am and 9pm. They are hoping to expand the range from just fish and ships to Scampi, sausage etc soon.
You can order beforehand or just a 5min wait when you go in

Restaurants in Reading? Posted by Abby on 23/4/2012 GF board There is a Jaime's Italian in the Oracle which has gluten free pasta available. The London Street Brasserie is also very nice, more expensive, but will give you a highlighted gluten free menu. I've been to the Belle and Dragon a few times too and they've highlighted the menu for me with what was suitable. lots of Las Iguanas/Giraffe type places are also at the Oracle. Or further afield - Mya la carte in caversham has gfs on the menu. ******************************** www.jamieoliver.com/italian/readingwww.londonstbrasserie.co.uk/www.belandthedragon.co.uk/
