The staff are extremely helpful and will provide gluten free gravy etc for a roast meal. If they have a couple of days notice they are very happy to provide gluten free desserts. The Park Hotel, Barnstaple The Park Hotel Barnstaple Devon www.coeliacegg.co.uk/cgi-bin/MAP ... ?id=48&r=4

The Fish & Chip shop in South Road cook their chips separately (certainly did recently) so chips from there are OK. The Ship Aground in Morthoe do really nice food and are "clued up", but The Chichester in Mortehoe upset me when they said "Oh YOU people are so fussy" when I asked what was gluten free on their menu and why they needed to put flour in everything so I never eat in there (However the cider is v. good). The Red Barn in Woolacombe did very good baked potatoes last year - but didn't manage to sample them this trip.
If you're going to Barnstable there is a very good health food shop that takes regular deliveries of G/F pasties, tarts, cakes, samosas........ Go mad! Have you guessed this is one of my favourite places?

The Health Food Shop in Barnstaple does pasties and tarts and cake for take away. There also is a company called Twins that have a stall in the market on Friday but I've never tried their stuff so I can't comment. ... www.twinsglutenfree.co.uk

sted by Daphne on 10/5/2009 Gf board ... Have tried the above foods from their stall at Barnstaple Pannier market and I can say they are very tasty indeed. I have so far had a pasty, thin crispy pastry, lovely and cheesey quiche very tasty indeed. Have a mushroom slice to look forward to. All items £2.50 and I think it is worth it for a really tasty change. They have market stalls in Taunton, Thursday and Wells Farmers market every other Wednesday. They also have products at Sedgemoor market, North Petherton on Fri, Sat & Sun. If you order in advance you get a 10% discount.
