I went to the Jaipur Indian restaurant twice this week and had a great GF meal - very understanding and they will go through the menu with you. This is formerly the 'Kismet' opp. Victoria Park, Paignton. Also another favourite haunt of ours, 'Diggy's wine bar and bistro in Winner Street, Paignton. We had been going for years before GF and I phoned up the other night to explain what I would need in order to eat there and he knew all about GF as he caters for another coeliac too! Well I had a great meal and the best bit is I HAD CHIPS!!! YES CHIPS!!!! and how wonderful that was! He has a separate fryer for chips and roast potatoes which is never used for anything else! The other coeliac was in that night too so we had a chat. You might be reading this! On a lesser note yet still valid I went to Dartington Cider Press and they seemed to know about it at 'Muffins' cafe - I had a baked potato with ratatouille and cheese - they gave me individual butter portions etc and said they've done this before - I was fine so I guess they were right. It was nice to sit there with my family and have lunch and feel normal instead of filling up on crackers and bananas before going out!

Paignton - On behalf of Peter (Kate's Dad) Posted by Eileen (Bristol) on behalf of on 13/8/2014, 17:57:58
On holiday in Paignton. In Brixham in Bolton Rd is David's fish and chips. They can do gf fish and chips if you give them notice. They were delicious and use gf flour for batter and use dedicated fryer away from main fryers. On the same street is a health food shop called Oats with a mostly gf menu for their cafe at the rear of the shop. We are camping at Whitehill Country Park. Kate can eat a couple of dishes at the on site restaurant. Curry,Chips and chicken, Burger no bun. In Paignton itself Squires still sell gf fish and chips. Opposite the cinema is Neffy's...a cafe selling fresh and frozen gf cake pasties pies, etc. Right next door is Temptations ice cream shop who sell gf cones. There are also the usual Harvesters with a gf menu .

We had fish and chips from Paignton Pier Chippy the other day. They have a full gluten free menu including pies, sausages and fish. I emailed them before going and they told that fish and sausages don't need to be prebooked, but the pies do. I had gf cod and it was lovely. The place is also extremely clean.
