Eating out Eyemouth, Scottish borders Posted by Pam, Dorset on 26/6/2009 We were up in the borders a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the caravan site at The Plough Inn, at Allerdean (about 4 or 5miles from Berwick. They do gf and I'd expressed interest when we booked. As we were up there for a wedding the first few days we were out but when we met the chef he'd prepared gf soup etc and I hadn't been in the restaurant! I felt really guilty so we ate there the next 2 nights. Chef was really interested in gf cooking but not totally clued up about thing like bought in stock cubes etc. Needless to say I educated him and he went back to check all his ingredients. I also stresses the dangers of cross contamination and he was keen to learn. So give it a try - the fish was fresh from Eyemouth and delicious. It would be worth mentioning gf when booking, though he will adapt sauces etc. Web site www.theploughinnallerdean.co.uk Enjoy your holiday - it's lovely up there.
