Heard on Central FM (Scotland) last night an advert for SCOTT'S Delicatessan in Barnton St, Stirlung. As well as the usual assortment of wares they have they also promote the selling of Coeliac Produce. I always knew they did sell GF stuff as I go there. Just was amazed to hear it advertised. Never heard it on the radio or seen it on the telly. Maybe it is a start of bigger things to come. Peter

GF board
Took the girls to Corrieri's an Italian Cafe and Pizzeria, it's at the bootom of the hill up to the Wallace Monument if anybody is up this way on Holiday. Took our own bases, Pizza's were superb, took two bases got charged for one small Pizza. Afterwards I asked if next time I could bring some GF/WF pasta, no need says them we always have a stock in, Corn Pasta Penne GF/WF. Their Bolognese Sauce is supposed to be to die for, so table is booked for next week.

Gf Freindly Restuarant Posted by Peter (Stirling) on 15/5/2005
GF board At last someone is doing something for us all.
Opening 21st May 05
Whistlebinkies 73/75 St Mary's Wynd Stirling 01786 451256
New Menu, plus plenty of choice for those requiring Gluten Free Food.
One of Stirling's best known pubs re-opens on 21 May, and to celebrate the opening week, Whistlebinkies is hoping to bring back the pleasure of eating out for people with Coeliac Disease which is caused by an intolerance to Gluten and found in Wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats.
Having this condition can make eating out difficult but during Coelaic Awareness Week (May16-22) there will be Gluten-Free specials to add to the extensive Gluten-Free items.
A short extract of the advert in our local Shopper paper.
Nae prizes for guessing where I am having my Leaving Do when I get made redundant in the near future. Might just have to book our Sunday Dinner there next week as well, have something on on Sat or would support their opening. BTW, always liked Whistlebikies, it's a real old fashioned pub, if your ever in Stirling it's about a 5 min walk from the Castle (if coming from there- 20 mins if going up...hohoho) It's next door to 'The Settle Inn' THE Oldest pub in Stirling and full of history. None of your Chavs or louts in those pubs.

From Peter on GF board
Castle Campbell Hotel Main Street Dollar Stirlingshire
Hollybank Glasgow Road Stirling
Went to both these places yesterday, Castle Campbell for lunch and the Hollybank for Dinner. Both places are very GF/WF aware. The Hollybank Chefs only use Cornflour in all their sauces and the Menu is 90% GF. Even the waitresses are clued up as I pointed out a dish with a haggis sauce, she was able to tell me it asn't WF but due to the amount of Gluten in it it was deemed GF. If their is something on the menu you like that is not GF/WF, they will try to do it for you, my daughter wanted the Sweet and Sour Chicken but the batter was ordinary flour, Chef sent the waitress back out to say he would do it with a Chicken Brest un battered. ...

Great for GF nr Stirling Scotland Posted by David mc on 21/4/2018, 19:29:55
Torwood Garden Centre at Larbert near Stirling and Falkirk has a great GF offering in its Blossoms cafe including gluten free scones and several different GF cakes. Their soups are mostly GF and they offer a first for me, a GF toasted sandwich. They also offer gluten free afternoon tea options. I didn't explore main courses but expect that they can cater for those as well. It's an excellent garden centre too. The local Coeliac UK group meet there regularly too.
