Ee-usk, Oban Posted by Dawn on 31/7/2012, 15:21:30 129.215.115.x Belatedly posting about a great gf meal in Oban back in June. www.eeusk.com/ Ee-usk is a great fish restaurant, fantastic views over the sea as well. Food was great - mostly fish with a couple of exceptions (mother had lovely veggie lasagne, not run of the mill stuff!). Fish was fish and beautifully cooked. Staff very aware of gf and cross contamination (ie. knew that we had to have chips fried separately etc) and I had a good selection. They were happy to substitute sauces etc to suit. Thoroughly recommend it.

Royal Hotel, Oban

In contrast to the Eight Acres in Elgin - the Royal Hotel at Oban was terrible.
They had a menu marked with allergens and when I made a choice I questioned whether the chips were fried away from gluten containing foods only to be told No. The GF option also included gluten containing onion rings.
There were no GF desserts at all on the menu.

Mary, Crerar hotels is a group with several hotels in Scotland and one in Yorkshire. I have stayed in the latter many times, the food was excellent and allergens well managed. If the rest are as good then possibly worth a try. They do some excellent deals. The only downside is that there is a charge every time that you use a bank card, debit or credit, which can prove annoying if you haven't cash handy and you are buying a meal or drinks.

Shame that. Not good enough. I would recommend the restaurant Ee usk on the harbour. Lovely GF food on request and great views. Brilliant fish dishes. There is a restaurant next to it that looks promising but I haven't tried it yet Ee usk is so good.
